Learn to dance Lindy Hop - the original Jitterbug
Do you like to dance or would you like to know how? Are you looking for a fun, intense and challenging partner dance, where you are not forced to only dance with your own partner (like it happens at the conventional dance schools). Does "Charleston", "Gangster Swing" and "retro coolness" sound interesting? Then Club HepCat's beginners weekend workshop in Copenhagen is the thing for you!
We promise you a flying start on your Lindy Hop career! During the weekend you will learn the basic technique, style and rhythm as well as a large number of the most well known and useful Lindy Hop steps. On top of it all you will get to meet a lot of new people and make new friends.
What is Lindy Hop?
Lindy Hop is a social couple dance for young and old which, like Salsa, can be danced without a fixed dance partner. It is a dance without long choreographed routines and doesn't require "Latin hips" or years of practise to be fun and useful! You don't need to bring a partner, so come as you are. It is the original Jitterbug dance, and is mostly danced to swing or neo-swing music, but if you're in the mood it can be danced to anything you like.
About the weekend workshop
The workshop is a two-day introduction to this cool thing called swing. We promise a workout worth a fitness centre combined with more fun than you've had for weeks - but take care, it's addictive...!
Who can participate?
This course is for the absolute beginners who has never danced Lindy Hop before and it is not required that you bring your own dance partner. Since experiences tell us that far more single women than men register, it is easier for women to join the workshop, if they bring their own partner.
We take it step by step, but still dare to promise, that at the end of the weekend-course you are able to dance for minutes with one of your new-found friends - after that you're ready to impress colleagues, friends and family as well as to take over the dance floors of Copenhagen.
