Vi som ordnar denna socialdans är en grupp med vänner som kallar sig Hbg Swing Mafia. Hittills har vi gjort detta som privatpersoner med stöd av HepTown & Cat’s Corner. Vi gör det för att vi vill dansa på hemmaplan och för att vi hoppas att fler kan upptäcka hur himla kul det är med swingdans!

Entrance fee?
None! However, the lovely staff at Dickens would be pleased if you take a look at their menu for beverages and food.

Floor
Not sticky, but no glide either. Leave you rubber soled shoes at home.

Must I know how to dance?
Absolutely not!

Who are behind all this?
The organizers of Lindy hop social dancing are a crew calling ourselves Hbg Swing Mafia. From the start and also now we do not have a formal organisation in Hbg. We do it because we love swing dancing! We love lindy hop and are hoping to make more people discover this thing called swing.

Workshop: Beginner Aerials & Lifts

Lindy Hop is well known for its awesome aerials – jumps and throws into the air. If you want to get a taste of that, then this workshop is for you!

We will teach you some cool looking and easy-to-do aerials: Frog Jump, A-jump, Knee Lift and Swingout Throw. These are the simplest aerials, and also the ones that work best to throw into your dancing spontaneously in e.g. a jam.

You don’t need much dance experience – the workshop is available for anyone who has at least two months of swing dance experience.

You will need a partner though. As they say, it takes two to tango – in this case it takes two to aerials 😉
So please note, that you can only register with a partner.
We will not be changing partners in the workshop.

Workshop: Doin’ the Jive – Solo routine

Learn a cool Solo Jazz routine: “Doin’ The Jive”! This routine was choreographed by Kelly Porter, Joshua Welter and Michael Faltesek, to the song “Doin’ the Jive” by the Careless Lovers.

You can be as expressive as you want with this fun ‘call & response’ routine; the lyrics of the song will tell you what to do but you decide how to do it!

Hepcats’ Sunday Swing

Hepcats Copenhagen proudly presents, “Hepcats’ Sunday Swing” – the Copenhagen swing community’s social dancing Sunday hang-out.

The DJ will be in their place and the dancers will be moving their feet like there’s no tomorrow. You don’t need to bring a partner, all you need is the will to swing! Everyone is welcome! Come as you are:)

Should I go to audition?
There are four reasons to join the audition:
– You are currently on (Amb.) Intermediate or (Amb.) Intermediate Advanced and would like to join classes on a higher level.
– You have danced, but never taken classes in SwingShoes before and would like to be placed on one of our levels.
– You have taken a break from classes in SwingShoes for more than two rounds (4 months).
– You feel, that you are far superior compared to your classmates, and so you would like the opportunity to skip a level. Of course, you have already discussed this matter with your teacher who agrees.

Please note that this is NOT a reason to come to the audition:
– You would like to get some personal feedback on your dance, without having to pay for it.

How does it work?
It’s very laid back. There’ll be four teachers – two follows and two leads. You’ll dance two dances with two different teaches, while the other two looks. Afterwards, the teachers will evaluate your dancing and give you their judgement of, what level you are fit for.

What if I can’t make it that day?
Then you have to wait until our next audition, unfortunately.

You will learn different basic steps, the most common figures and basic leading/following techniques. The aim of the introductory course is to enable you to dance with the rest of us during social dance nights.

The workshop is a two-day introduction to this cool thing called Swing. We promise a workout worth a fitness center combined with more fun than you’ve had for weeks. But be warned – it’s addictive…

Balboa på Globen

Balboa er en swingdans fra 1920erne, som man danser to og to, hvor en leder og en anden følger. Man danser til swing musik, og fordi trinene er små, kan man danse hurtigt og på lidt plads. Man behøver ikke meget mere end en glat trappesten. Det er sjovt men også elegant. Kom og prøv fra kl 19:30, og dans med os bagefter fra kl 20:30..

Per Ols Bryggare är en garagebryggklubb bestående av sex lite till åren komna herrar med stort ölintresse. Efter att i alla år ha fokuserat på konsumentaspekten har vi nu slagit oss på producentsidan. Med mer passion än precision har vi bryggt oss igenom de flesta ölstilar och känner oss för det mesta nöjda – ibland rentav stolta över resultatet.

Vi brygger med vår hembyggda elektriska 3-kärlsanläggning med 125 liters kapacitet. Den 24:e februari finns vi och anläggningen på Farmshack där vi tillsammans med er brygger en välhumlad American Pale Ale. Den producerade vörten delas efter bryggsessionen upp mellan deltagarna som tar med sig varsin hink hem för jäsning, flaskning och konsumtion.

This workshop in Shim Sham is for both complete beginners and people who have experience with Shim Sham. We will differentiate the teaching so that there will be something for everyone!

For the Shim Sham beginners we will go through a detailed breakdown of the classic choreography.

For the more experienced Shim Sham dancers there will be several challenges. We will try interesting variations of the classic steps with challenging rythms. Once we have the whole choreo ready, we have the ultimate challenge for the more ambitious: mirroring the whole choreography!

Mimi Terris has been called one of Swedens’ foremost and original jazz vocalists and songwriters – Mimi Terris, our very own, local jazz queen from Malmö. Their mutual sense of time, musicality and versatility gives the band its’ core swing vibe. UPDATE: The Blues Night theme is moved one week forward due to the delayed refurbishment of the Moriskans grand ballroom floor. Instead, the social dance will be held in Moriskans “Spegelsalen” together with coffee and cookies a.k.a. fika.

Welcome to Cats’ Corners swingin’ Wednesday Night Hop Light at Moriska Paviljongen.     If you have some clothes or accessories that you don’t use anymore, but you would like to give them a new home (and earn some money on it), bring them to the party, and sell them in the flea market! It can be just one thing, or a bunch of things!

We will provide you with an envelope, so that people who pay with cash can put the money directly into the envelope. You can also write your phone nr on the price tag, if you want people to pay with Mobile Pay.
