September Blues – Workshop with Brian Lucky Skillen

Summer is passing way to quickly, but don´t fear, we´ve got a treat for you this autumn…

Through the magic power of his huge smile, Lucky Skillen brings dancing joy wherever he goes. And now, lucky us, his European tour will bring him to Malmö.

There will of course be parties and two days of workshops.
Let this September Blues get ya, and join us for some lovely, lovely dancing under ground.

SATURDAY WORKSHOP WITH BRIAN LUCKY SKILLEN 11.00-16.30

For dancers that are new to blues and want to learn the fundamentals of blues dancing and intermediate bluesdancers that want to get better at it.

Class 1 – Juke joint – is a style of blues based off of the slow
dances being done in Juke joints around America at the turn of the last century. This class will give you a firm grip on the basics of blues dancing and will go over weight shifts, pulse, fishtails and counter balance.

Class 2 – Ballrooming – Is the modern interpretation for the slow dancing done at the Savoy Ballroom in the 40’s and 50’s traditionally it was danced with many turns lifts and dips. Today it has been developed into very dynamic dance adding a new flavor of movement to the floor craft

Class 3 – Connection – This class will bring a whole new connection to you and your partner. It will go over the 3 classic types of connection and touch on a fourth. It will help you to bring together you and your partner and will bring a whole new understanding to the dance.

Class 4 – Turning technique – This class will teach you the basics of turning and give you several turning patterns to use in your dancing

SUNDAY WORKSHOP WITH BRIAN LUCKY SKILLEN 11.00-16.30

For more experienced Blues Dancers and dancers who took the Saturday classes.

Class 5 Connecting Solo – This class will teach you fun and exciting solo movement to put into your partner dancing. It will also focus on blues skip ups a fundamental in blues dancing.

Class 6 – Rhythm and slides – This class will give you fun slides that will add to your blues dancing. It will teach you how to get from point A to point B with style.

Class 7 – Single axis Series – This class will go over several single axis moves that will impress the crowds and add amazing flow to your dancing.

Class 8 – Micro Blues -This is a modern style of blues that uses small movements to communicate to your partner. This class is an experience not to be missed and is the glue that holds dance together.
