While 150/190 SEK is a low price for a live concert, we understand that times are tough right now and that a lot of us are struggling. BAND BIO

Roaring Cats are one of Europe’s most promising swing and hot jazz bands. The tiny orchestra based in Amsterdam took the challenge of giving value and new significance to the roots of jazz.

Their repertoire consists of original arrangements of the finest tunes by the top artists of the 30’s and 40’s: from Fats Waller to Cab Calloway, Duke Ellington to Jimmie Lunceford. On top of that, they are presenting original compositions in style. Swell notes for hyperactive swing dancers and for sedentary drinking listeners.

EXTRA: Tonight we kick off at 18:30 -19:30 with a one hour drop-in Lindy Hop class for beginners in the big ballroom.

BLUES DANCING?

There will be a drop-in blues dance class (for beginners and experienced dancers alike) followed by social blues dancing in Spegelsalen 4/9, 2/10, 13/11 & 4/12. The classes will have different themes and together give a broad introduction to blues dancing.

DJ Todi invites you all to a laid back DJ meeting and workshop. It’s for both total beginners that want to know more about DJing for swing dancing and experienced DJs that want to hangout and talk about swing music and DJing….

The idea is to have a DJ WorkShop home at DJ Todd’s. Where we focus on the music. Talk about how do we pick and find “good dance music” … what is “good dance music”? … things we need to think about when we want to DJ during the social dance. And anything else you might be interested in to talk about.

The Plan:

16:30 – People start showing up
17:00 – DJ Anton has a talk about “DJ:ing” …
17:30 – We order some food
17:45 – While the food is being delivered, we’ll divide into smaller groups and workshop a 15-20min playlist according to “a team”
18:15 – When the food has arrived. We gather in the living room. Feast and listen to each others playlists. Smalltalk about the music. etc etc.
19:00 – Free to stay and continue listening to music and dance

Solo Jazz Dance & Street Dance Tuesdays in Malmö: beginners and beyond,

Solojazz / Autentisk jazz är solodansen (där du dansar själv utan partner) inom swingfamiljen. Med många olika steg och rutiner är solojazz ett fantastiskt sätt att få kroppskontroll, motion och fart på fötterna. En belöning i sig själv och också obligatorisk för alla Lindy Hoppers som vill utvecklas.

Du är mycket välkommen oavsett förkunskaper, ålder och dansförmåga. Solo Jazz passar både den som redan dansar Lindy Hop och den som helt enkelt vill börja dansa solo till swingmusik utan att ha provat andra swingdanser.

Det finns flera kortare block där det första börjar från början den 10 september, följt av fortsättning och slutligen den bro byggande ”Street Dance for Lindy Hoppers.

Jenny’s Style!?

”This course is not about learning a routine or the ‘perfect/correct’ way of solo jazz dancing, this workshops is about learning to have fun with solo jazz and getting yourself more comfortable with experimenting and solo social dancing to swing music!”

During four evenings we will dig into:
* Solo moves:
learn a handful of different basic solo jazz moves to help build you solo jazz vocabulary. No previous experience required. (You are allowed to skip the first two lessons if you already know a lot of Solo Jazz moves)

  • Improvisation and experimentation:
    we will build on the basic moves and learn to dance freely and expressively, you will learn tips and tricks to experiment and play around with the moves which can be applied to solo or partner

  • Social solo jazz: learn to dance solo jazz socially, no need to be scared it’s super fun and this class will show you! Social solo dancing is also perfect for these weird pandemic times.

Välkommen på en swingin’ picknick och socialdans vid dansön i Nobelparken. Ta med filt, dansskor och något gott att äta. Själva dansgolvet går inte att boka men brukar vara ledigt.

Vi ses från 17 men kom gärna tidigare (eller droppa in senare). Det finns en megafon som du kan lägga din mobil i som då förstärker ljudet oväntat bra…

The idea is that, after the charleston workshop, we will move to Far I Hatten, and have a drink and/or a pizza. Yes, HepTown and Visit Lund invites you to swing in the park every Wednesday from the 19th of June to the 14th of August 2024

  • The whole evening is free!
  • It is drop-in without registration
  • You are equally welcome with or without a dance partner
  • We rotate dance partners as the course gets better that way

We take it from scratch every time so that new beginners can keep up but will also vary slightly for those who are joining multiple times. However, these drop-in classes do not replace our longer beginner courses and weekend courses.

SCHEDULE

  • Cost: Free
  • Beginners Lindy Hop drop-in class: 18:30-19:30
  • Social dance: 19:30-21:00
  • After Party: 21:05-23:00 (Stallet, Mejeriet)

BEGINNERS LINDY HOP DROP-IN CLASS 18:30-19:20

The evening starts with a short taster class in Lindy Hop aka jitterbug , an African American couple swing dance from the ’30s Harlem, NY. This class is targeted at adults BUT teens that are OK taking classes with adults are also welcome to join.
Just come and join us, no partner and no registration needed.
This class is taught in English as there is always lots of tourists joining

This course is aimed at adults, but teenagers who dare are welcome to participate.

MORE THAN DANCING

This is also a good time to have a picnic or barbecue, play some games or just lounging in the sun.
